Wounds
Patient’s procedures vary so you may be discharged with home nurses to attend to pack your wound daily.
Keep the area as clean and as dry as possible. Some discharge is common. You may wear a sanitary pad to draw moisture away from the wound.
Activity
Prolonged sitting will increase discomfort so try to avoid sitting for long periods of time.
Try lying down on your side if lying on your back causes too much pain.
If you have stitches, these may cause discomfort or rubbing when performing certain activities. Avoid these until you feel comfortable or until your stitches have been removed or healed (dissolvable).
Pain/Discomfort
You may feel some pain/discomfort following your procedure. You will be given a script for pain relief. Take as required.
Hygiene
You are able to shower and bath as normal and gently pat your wound dry with a towel. Post bowel movements, clean the area as best as you can to avoid infection or irritation of the perianal area. You can use wipes should toilet paper not suffice. Your surgeon may advise of you of some hair removal treatments should it be required.
